# Credits & usage

This guide explains how Automix's credit system works, where to watch your balance, usage history, and plan rates. It helps you understand billing mechanics before you scale up usage.

_Takes about 5 minutes._

## Before you start

> **Before you start**
>
> You need an existing Automix workspace. No external account or provider key is needed for this guide — credits and usage are native to every workspace.

## 1. What a credit is

Credits are Automix's single billing unit, shared across Wavy, Socie, and Wani rather than one currency per product. Every AI call and metered action debits credits from your workspace balance. There is no endpoint that lets anything deduct credits directly — every deduction is a side effect of a billed action, recorded in the ledger.

## 2. Check your balance

Your current credit balance is served by GET /api/v1/credits/balance and shown in the app's credit indicator. The same call also triggers any signup bonus or referral reward you are owed, so refreshing your balance is enough to collect one.

## 3. Read your usage history

GET /api/v1/credits/ledger returns your credit events newest-first, and the Usage page at /usage pages through it to build a dashboard: a date range, an hour/day bucket, KPI tiles, and a spend/request trend chart, plus a CSV export. Only the Overview tab is backed by real data today. The API and Playground tabs are intentionally left empty rather than showing an invented chart, because the ledger has no column yet that attributes a credit event to one of those two specific surfaces.

> **Overview only, for now**
>
> The API and Playground tabs on the Usage page are placeholders until the ledger can attribute usage to those surfaces specifically — the Overview tab is the one with real numbers behind it.

## 4. Find current rates and plans

The Billing page at /billing reads live plan and rate information from the billing API rather than a number typed into a docs page, so rates you see there are always current. GET /api/v1/billing/rates, /billing/plans and /billing/rate-card are the same endpoints the Billing page itself calls — use them if you are integrating your own reporting.
