Register a LinkedIn app for Socie
Register your own LinkedIn app, request the right products, and connect your profile or company page so Socie can publish scheduled posts through your own app.
1 Create a LinkedIn app
Go to the LinkedIn developer console and create a new application. The app must be associated with a LinkedIn Page that you administer, as LinkedIn will verify the app against that Page when prompted.
2 Request the products you need
Navigate to the Products section of your app settings and request Share on LinkedIn to enable posting as your personal profile. If you also intend to post as a company page, you must additionally request the Community Management API.
3 Add the redirect URL
Open the Auth section and select OAuth 2.0 settings. Add the callback URL provided by Socie to the Authorized redirect URLs list to ensure the OAuth handshake completes correctly.
4 Copy the Client ID and Client Secret
In the Auth section, open Application credentials to view your app's secret. Copy both the Client ID and the Client Secret, as you will need these exact values to configure Socie in the next step.
5 Check your page role, for a company page
If you are posting on behalf of a company page, verify that your user account holds one of the required administrative roles on that Page. You must be an Administrator, Content Admin, or Direct Sponsored Content Poster to grant Socie posting permissions on the organization's behalf.
6 Paste the credentials into Socie and connect
Return to Socie and open the connection settings for LinkedIn. Paste the Client ID and Client Secret you copied earlier and save them; the secret is encrypted immediately and will not be displayed again. Click the Connect button next to your account, which redirects you to LinkedIn to approve the request, and your account status will update to Connected once the process is complete.
7 What Socie asks permission for
Socie requests only the specific permissions necessary for publishing. These are the scopes to post as your personal member profile and, for company pages, the scopes to post as that organization. No additional or broader permissions are requested during the connection process.
After connecting
- Your LinkedIn account or company page is now linked to Socie.
- You can begin scheduling posts using the LinkedIn options in your calendar.
